The deserved master of sports of the USSR, the Champion of the USSR, the Silver prize-winner of the World Cup of 1983, the Winner of the Friendship Cup — 84 Tournament

I studied on the second year of the Moscow agricultural academy of K.A.Timiryazev when Taram was transferred there to postgraduate study from Rostov where it graduated from agricultural institute. These years - the beginning of the 80th - in Timiryazevka studied about 60 people from Checheno-Ingushetiya. We lived very amicably, as they say - soul in soul, constantly gathered that in one, in other hostel (and them was four) on zhizhig-galnysh, arranged синкъерамш (parties). This our community then left many known people: well-known scientist Abdoul-Malik Batukayev, banker Ibrahim Bashayev, Minister of Agriculture of Chechnya Ruzbek Bisultanov, etc.

Naturally, in our diaspora there were athletes, generally shtangist and wrestlers. In Academy quite strong sections of free-style wrestling and weightlifting worked. Frame of wrestling team was made by Chechens and Dagestanis, however, as well as heavy athletics. Among wrestlers there was also one representative of the Chechen Greco-Roman wrestling, the master of sports Sssrabdurakhman Zaurbekov, the 2-fold champion of the USSR among young men and the winner of many international tournaments. The team of weight-lifters almost entirely consisted of Shatoysky shtangist: masters of sports of the USSR Abuyazid Labazanov, Alexander (Sayd Mokhmad) Balakin, Ruslan Bekbulatov and I. At one time with us I was Iza Movsarov.

And, certainly, we were happy when Taram Magomadov joined our brotherly collective. We and heard before about it, Taram was the champion of Europe among youth, but his main sports take-off fell on years of study in Moscow. All our big student's family became Taram's fan club, with all the heart rejoiced to his successes, endured failures.

The most important, solving in Taram's sports biography were 1983 and 1984. Olympic Games - 1984 in Los-Andzhelose were the purpose and the World Cup of 1983 in Kiev was the first step to it. Having safely finished with all rivals Taram reached the final the World Cup where met Dave Schultz from the USA.

The well-known American wrestler called "a cunning fox" for his ingenious ability to play tactically the rivals. To each tournament Dave made any surprise which the opponents who have seemingly studied Schultz up and down least expected it. For example, the American could lose totally any important tournament, like Tbilisky, then not appear at competitions long time and when his rivals already believed that Schultz came to an end as the wrestler, it suddenly arose in the World Cup, in an excellent form, and easily it won. Or houses, on trainings any reception prepared, perfected it to perfection and stored to the last. And at the most critical moments of a meeting I broke the rival this reception.

Here on Schultz's such house preparation Taram in the ending of the World Cup of 1983 also got. Having perfectly begun fight, Taram moved in the score 4:0. It seemed, the destiny of this meeting is clear, Taram was in good shape and looked more preferable than the rival. By the end of the second minute of fight Schultz takes a foot. Taram allows the American to pass back and to take point. Situation usual in free-style wrestling when the athlete having advantage gives to the rival one point not to spend many forces for protection.

But, what is it? Schultz captures Taram in orchestra seats and carries out in a row two (!) "setups", each of which is estimated at two points - 5:4 in favor of the American. Doesn't pass also half-minute, Schultz carries out one more "setup". We sat in front of the TV as prishiblenny, stupidly looking in the screen. Taram's confused look testified, as he can't understand that there were for these some seconds.

It is unreal! It can't be! After all, possessing huge physical force, Taram never allowed rivals to carry out before with him "setup". And on this fact, it appears, Schultz relied "a cunning fox". This moment became critical and Taram couldn't recoup until the end of a meeting any more. Then already Dave admitted to Taram that, preparing for this championship, he trained the whole year these "setups", including with heavyweights.

The second place in the World Cup is big success and we suited about it a big banquet in our hostel. But, Taram regarded a silver medal as a failure and started preparing for the Olympic Games-1984 selflessly. This preparation was how heavy, you can imagine in one case which I now will tell. Somehow in the evening I kept watch in a hostel. The entrance door opens and enters, hardly shuffling the feet, Taram. I failed on a chair and speaks to me: "Carry a bag to the room, I will a little have a rest and I will rise". And he lived on the first floor, directly over watch. So gave all the best on trainings that it wasn't necessary to lift forces a training bag on the first floor.

Taram approached to the Olympic Games-1984 in a brilliant form and thirsted for a meeting with Schultz - "I will crush on the first minute! " And, really, would crush. I seldom speak in a subjunctive form, trusting usually to the facts, but in this case is sure for all 100%. Would crush, if not idiotic policy of heads of the USSR, decided to boycott these Olympic Games. To Taram remained nothing how to take part in the Friendship-84 Tournament where athletes of the socialist countries who by an example of the USSR declared boycott to the Olympic Games-84 gathered. The Friendship-84 tournament was equated to the Olympic Games, for a victory in it to the athlete all those ranks and the benefits what the Olympic champion has relied. But, it all the same not that, it the Olympic Games were final not!

On "Friendship-84" Taram effortlessly dealt with all rivals. Its advantage was so huge that in the ending his rival from Cuba simply didn't come to a carpet (!), having counted it as useless business. Also was why. For example, when Taram took a foot of the rival, without helping the second hand, he started rising to the feet, holding the opponent on one hand, as if the child. Then sharp movement I gave up it on shovels, without resorting to the help of the second hand. And it at competitions of the highest international level.

It is a pity that this magnificent athlete didn't happen to rise by the highest step of a podium of the World Cup or Olympic Games.   It much and hard worked, was ready and deserved it.   Only the sports fate wasn't developed in its party. 

But, life proceeded. After completion of sports career, Taram Magomadov successfully defended the dissertation and became the candidate of agricultural sciences. I worked at chair of sheep breeding of Timiryazevsky academy, I wrote tens scientific works. During reorganization was engaged in business, I organized commercial bank.

In 2007 Taram became the doctor of agricultural sciences in the field of sheep breeding. Works as the director general of the large enterprise in the Volgograd region.
