Only in Melitopol a sumoist Sergey Sokolovsky brought from the wrestling sumo championship of Ukraine at once eight medals: five gold and three bronze.

The national championship on wrestling of sumo in which about 200 athletes of this ancient single combat of the Country of the Rising sun from all Ukraine participated was held to the past weekend in Energodare.  During competitions sets of medals in categories juniors till 18 years, youth till 21 year and till 23 years, adults were played.  The pupil of TGATU college Sergey Sokolovsky acted as a part of a national team of the Zaporozhye area.

According to one of trainers of a Melitopol sumoist Ruslan Kuksov, Sergey is engaged in free-style wrestling on the basis of social and humanitarian faculty of MGPU of B. Khmelnytsky.  The guy is 17 years old, and he weighs 155 kg - ideal weight for a sumoist.  Besides, in sumo the same receptions, as in free-style wrestling are used, practically, but ruled a little others.  As R. Kuksov notes, free-style wrestling is fine base for development further other types of wrestling and single combats.  Therefore, the athlete - "wrestler" S. Sokolovsky having fine data, invited to make a speech at the championship of Ukraine as a part of combined area.

It left on a fur-coat several times, battling and among juniors till 18 years, and among youth in 21 and 23 years, tested itself and in fights among adults in weight category over 100 kg. It is interesting that in this weight on a scaffold the presents "tyazhi", weighing both 180 kg, and 200 kg meet. In personal offset it won sure victories in categories to 18 and till 21 year, in categories till 23 years and among adults became the bronze prize-winner. By the way, among adults Sergey for getting into the final lost to our fellow countryman, the Honoured Master of Sports of Ukraine on free-style wrestling Sergey Pryadun who now too acts in sumo. In a team competition at S. Sokolovsky three gold medals and one bronze. Trainers R. Kuksov and Vladimir Sobol trained the athlete for competitions.

Thus, the Melitopol athlete on national superiority proved the right to represent Ukraine in the European championship which will take place in April in Alushta, and the World Cup which will take place in the summer in Taiwan. Besides, S. Sokolovsky executed the standard "the master of sports of Ukraine in sumo wrestling", and this rank will be presented to it soon.
